Privacy policy
Tool Scorer is a site you read. There is nothing to sign up for, so there is very little of you here. This page says exactly what there is.

What we collect
Server logs. The company that hosts this site keeps standard web server logs: the IP address of the request, the page asked for, the date and time, the browser’s user agent and the page you came from. The site search is an ordinary web address, so what you type in it appears in those logs too. Logs are used to keep the site running and to see roughly how much traffic it gets. We don’t try to identify anyone from them.
The contact form. The form on the contact page asks for your name, which is optional, your email address, a topic from a short list, and your message. When you send it, those four things are emailed to us along with the address of the page the form was on and the IP address the request came from. None of it is written to the site’s database: once the email has gone out, the site keeps no copy of your message. The one thing that stays behind is a rate-limit counter, which holds a one-way hash of your IP address rather than the address itself, for up to an hour, so nobody can flood the form.
What reaches our mailbox. However you write to us, we then have your email address, your name as you gave it, and whatever you chose to tell us, sitting in our inbox. We keep the thread so we can follow up on a correction, and nothing more.
What we don’t collect
There are no user accounts and no logins for readers, so there is no profile of you anywhere. There is no comment section and no newsletter, and the contact form is the only thing on the site you can type into, described above. These pages load no analytics script, no tracking pixel and no advertising network, and they set no tracking cookies of their own. The site runs on WordPress, which may set a cookie for someone logged in to edit it; as a reader you get none.
Third parties the pages actually load
Google Fonts. The page fonts are served from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com, so your browser requests them from Google and Google receives that request, including your IP address and browser. That is the only external service these pages load. Tool logos and images are hosted here, not fetched from anywhere else.
The vendors we link to. Links in a review go straight to the vendor’s own site; we don’t run a click tracker or a redirect in between. Some of those links are affiliate links, which means the vendor can see that the visit came from us and may set its own cookie once you are on its site. That is their processing, under their privacy policy, and it starts when you click.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. In practice that means an email thread, since the server logs are kept by the host on a short rolling basis and are not searchable by person. Start it from the contact page and we will answer.
Changes
If what we collect changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. We won’t quietly add tracking and leave this text as it is.
