About
Tool Scorer is a directory of AI tools where every tool gets one number out of 100 and one of four verdicts. The purpose is narrow: help you decide whether a tool is worth your money before you hand over a card.
Why a number
Most tool write-ups end without saying anything. Ours end with a score, a verdict and the reasons behind both. The score comes from five criteria with fixed weights, applied the same way to every tool: output quality, time to value, price fairness, reliability and trust, and fit and integrations. The rubric is public, so you can disagree with a score and know exactly which criterion you are disagreeing about. How we score has the whole thing, weights included.
How a review gets written
We start from documented facts: the vendor’s own pricing, feature and documentation pages, plus public sources. An AI model drafts the review and proposes the five criteria scores from those facts; an editor checks the claims against the source, can adjust a score with a visible reason, and decides what gets published. Prices, plan limits and free-plan caps are checked when the review is written and rechecked when we learn a price has moved. Prices change faster than reviews do, so check the vendor before you buy.
What we don’t do
We don’t run controlled benchmarks, and we don’t pretend to. We don’t sell a listing, a score or a place in a list. No vendor sees a review before it goes up, and no review comes down because a vendor would rather it didn’t.
How the site pays for itself
Some outbound links are affiliate links. If you buy through one, the vendor pays us a commission and you pay the same price you would have paid anyway. Affiliate status never changes a score, a verdict or a position in a list, and tools with no affiliate program are scored with exactly the same rubric. Several of our top picks pay us nothing. The affiliate disclosure spells it out.
Corrections
If a fact is wrong or a price is stale, tell us on the contact page and we will fix it. Facts we correct. Scores we will happily explain, but they are not up for negotiation.
